I always buy other brands of tape and never come across "bad" tape. I simply chose the cheapest option for this purchase. I've now learned that tape can be "bad". I used almost five rolls of this tape to wrap boxes. I use a branded tape dispenser which has always worked great. When I first started using this tape I noticed a huge difference in quality compared to all other tapes I have used. First, it is difficult to apply the tape to the dispenser. You have to press very hard as the diameter of the roll is smaller than the dispenser needs. I've tried dozens of different brands of tape and never had this problem! Second, the tape CONSTANTLY moves into an odd position throwing the distributed tape off track. The result is a huge ribbon stream that curls, sticks, or folds itself, so I have to throw the entire stream away. Because of this, I probably wasted more than half the roll of tape. I don't really understand why this is happening because the tape is very tight on the reel so I don't think it's moving. I think the most likely reason is that the way I have to push the roll into the dispenser bends the cardboard carrier roll a bit on the inside so it doesn't line up perfectly where the tape comes out target. Third, the tape doesn't hold up well. Every time I pass my stack of boxes, I have to reattach some of them. I rub and squeeze the tape very gently while putting it on but it doesn't help. The tape keeps popping out of the box where it's supposed to stick. I've started leaving a tape dispenser on top of already packed boxes, and every time I pass a stack I grab the tape and retape any loose ends that pop out.
