Unboxing and setting the pad up is probably as easy as it gets. It’s about the size of a 2 liter coke when rolled up in its bag, so it’s very portable. Getting it inflated is as simple as pumping it with your foot several times and waiting on it to puff up. I would say to be careful and not get too overzealous as it would be easy to overinflate and cause it to burst.Once at full capacity, lying on it to me was no different than lying on bare ground, save for the inflated pillows at the top. I’m 200 lbs with a short build and while I felt like I had plenty of room on it, it just wasn’t what I would call comfortable. I can’t really say that I feel like smaller people would find it comfortable either as I feel like it would give under any average person’s weight. And at that point, it literally IS no different than lying on bare ground. Because of this, I’m having trouble reconciling the price. While I realize something like this is more practical for certain situations, if comfort for sleeping is the least bit of your concern, I would urge you to consider an air mattress, a cot, or at the very least, a mat made of plush or gel. This mat will do the bare minimum for you and that’s provide a waterproof barrier between you and the ground. Of course, a $6 tarp would do the same thing. I’m sorry but there’s just not enough support. The last nail in the coffin is that I left it inflated overnight and it actually seems to have lost air even without anyone lying on it. Oof.I got this for a storm bag because tornadoes where I live have becoming increasingly frequent (and catastrophic), so I sometimes have to seek emergency shelter without much notice. My storm bag contains many essentials, but I found myself wanting something comfy to lay on for long periods of time if needed. I’m going to have to keep it moving, because this isn’t it. There are other similar mats like this out there with higher ratings that folks obviously find comfortable, but I just don’t. To each their own.
