Can put too much tilt force on the mount's "wrist "

My mount arm has a tilt adjuster next to the monitor. When using this adapter, the locking mechanism prevents the monitor from tipping forward and down under its own weight. The tilt adjustment has to be tightened all the way, and I have to be careful not to let the mechanism slip. This adapter moves the monitor approximately 3 inches in front of the mounting holes, shifting the weight much further forward than a monitor with built-in holes. The additional offset increases the torque (torque force) on the incline adjustment loop, similar to extending a lever. If this connection were constructed very close to the VESA mount like a "wrist" the result would be many times the torque a canted hinge would normally receive e.g. B. lifting a bag with the end of a broomstick. I used this with VIVO STAND-V002 and the torque was at the limit of what the joint could handle after being tightened to the max. It only failed after a push. Once the joint started to slip, the smoothing and wear was enough to make it unstick. At first I thought the hinge was defective and VIVO sent a replacement kit. But the new ones do it too. I haven't seen any alternative products without this problem and I think you can find out MacGyver what increases friction in the hinge - does mine have brass(?) washers that can be ground? But it was pain.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Useless features
