As a home user, I was looking for a webcam that would give me the flexibility to use it for desktop web conferencing as well as recording full-body fitness sessions that my wife streams from our home office. . I've tried combinations of several standard webcams with different fields of view, as well as my professional mirrorless camera connected via an HDMI converter. The easy setup of the eMeet Jupiter webcam, combined with great optics, good image software controls, and strong audio, make this a great workhorse that has earned its place in my streaming arsenal. Read on for more information from my experience.1. optical quality. I've attached a few photos comparing the Jupiter webcam to a regular webcam ($30) that I've used for the past 6 months. I found the Jupiter webcam to produce much cleaner video with minimal noise on all channels including the infamous blue channel. The reduction in color speckle was significant, resulting in more even tones throughout the image.2. line of sight. Being able to digitally zoom the camera's narrow field of view (60°) to get a more "cozy" framing during a conference call is definitely a plus for me as my monitors are about 60cm away from the keyboard. Even with the digital zoom, the image was still sharper than my regular webcam. As my wife does fitness at home, the 96° wide angle means the camera can do double duty, even staying in the same spot and covering our entire small studio from wall to wall. This feature is marketed as a conference room feature, although I haven't tested the AI.3 zoom feature. Sound. In addition to an array of echo-cancelling microphones, Jupiter's camera body also houses a very powerful speaker that can produce quite a bit of sound for its size. The mics definitely sound best when you're a few feet away, but I found I was still easy to hear when I was standing in the far corner of my room and the audio from the other side of the call was loud and loud was. clear.4. Software - This camera's settings can be controlled using the downloadable eMeet Link software, available for Mac and PC, which works with several products in the eMeet family. Here you can set the image control, field of view and camera resolution. I've tested this on Windows 10 with no issues, although you do need to know that you need to set the settings you want *before* joining a web conference, as the camera can only be accessed by one app at a time. When eMeet Link accesses the camera, zoom etc. is not available. In my experience, this is typical for other webcams.
