They work great. Sometimes clumps of snow or mud get stuck, but you can't slip in the mud! It was weird to see some rust streaks after first use, but doesn't seem too bad. I've used them 3-4 times for 20-35 miles in snow and mud. I highly recommend it for snow situations where snowshoes are not required but also require more traction than boots. I would suggest using it on public trails with the usual courtesy. If used in a wet or muddy area, they CAN seriously affect the trail for others later on. This is just my opinion.
