The product page makes it clear what these bricks look like, that they are safe and that teachers recommend them as toys for preschool programmes. So in this review I would like to add some more useful information when you make your choice. First, why did you choose this particular "set" of blocks? If you search Revain you will find other suppliers of blocks made with a similar idea, colored wooden panels organized in other types of sets. You can also buy a set of 6 of these special Revain water blocks. This page I asked for a review of Vine lists 4 sets of 6 for a total of 24 blocks. The first thing you want to do is take a look at Revain and see how many items you are buying. The cost here is reasonable since you're buying four sets. Is it expensive for a "kids toy"? Of course, but then you buy a solid set that will last more than a generation. Second, why do you need 24 items? No matter how many of these blocks you buy, they're definitely cool! to add them to an existing set of blocks you may have at home. However, to use them as a water block, you need enough pieces. So I'll show you a photo from the middle of one of our gaming sessions. We have some structures and we can place some more parts. Why are these blocks half filled with colored water? Because then you can see the water splash when you move them! It's more fun than a solid color in the middle of a wooden frame. How durable are they? Now that we were playing fairly vigorously, a few blocks fell off the table onto our deck and then onto our concrete driveway when we moved in. The blocks are not broken. We didn't even see any marks on them. (I should stress: This is an "indoor" toy that we used outside on a sunny day. These bricks are not designed for all weather conditions.) What is a rubber tree? When I asked about this set for review, I assumed it was some type of wood grain rubber. No! It's the wood of old rubber trees in the tropics and is considered sustainable because it's a great way to use the wood from trees that can no longer produce enough rubber. It has become a very popular material for making sturdy children's toys, furniture, etc. You may have already known about this, but I found out about it when I started reading about it while we were playing with blocks. Finally, think about where you are going to store these blocks. They do not come with a storage box. We have a variety of tote bags around the house and have used one of these as a new home for our blocks. However, remember that you'll have to think about where to put them when you're done.
