Weight of paper is too thin/lightweight!

Although I am just a beginner to quilling, I know enough to know this paper is way too thin/lightweight for quilling. First of all, it is so thin that the glue almost soaks through to the other side. Second of all, it bends really easily, either when coiling or when trying to glue it to the paper. Third of all, it doesn't uncoil easily - you actually have to help it along. And forget about glueing 2 strips together and then trying to get it to uncoil - it just doesn't work. And the paper comes out of the coil easily too, as well as creating tornadoes when you pull it out with tweezers (which never happens with stiffer paper). The colors are nice and bright and I like that there are a variety of widths, but this paper is basically unusable, especially if you need a stiff paper for straight lines. As I said, I am a beginner to quilling, but I have done several projects with my own paper that I cut into strips, trying to practice various techniques, and I was so excited to get some strips that were machine cut and even, but this was a total waste of money. Wish I could send it back, but I already used a couple of strips.

Pros
  • I am a beginner with quilling, but so far these papers are working well, and enough colors to "shade".
Cons
  • Strips are too long for certain projects
