It will fall apart if pulled wrong.
After the first few uses, the ball part came loose in my hand. My husband glued it back together and now I'm picking up the top. And we have such a high ceiling that he had to buy more chain as the one that comes is too short. I bought something else for another room with a lower ceiling and had to shorten the chain as it was very long (better and I liked it). So keep that in mind when using a vaulted ceiling. The rest looks fancy.
