Review on Maxiglide XP Hair Straightener and Styling Tool: Pink with Detangling Pins for Thick and Curly Hair, Steamburst Technology for Faster and Healthier Straightening by Nikki Lewis

Missed my maxi glide, glad to find it!

I have owned several Maxi-Glide products since they became popular. These versions were much wider and had thicker tines that would not retract. The main problem with taking care of them properly was that they were quite delicate. If it slips off the short stand onto the floor or your hands onto the floor, the device will never work the same way. I received this version (RF) and after reading some customer reviews I was concerned that it used to be obsessed. There was no water in the tank, there were no hairs or scratches on the device. My previous units came in a box wrapped in a wad of cellophane with extra records and a CD nailed in place. THIS new device did not have cellophane, the box opened right on the device. The Accord was wrapped in black velcro (like the ones used for computer cables) - so I was concerned about previous use. but so far everything looks good. YES, if you have curly or coarse hair you need to comb your hair completely. The wand is smaller than the old one, so you need to make more strands of hair. Please note that the steam function helps to soften coarse hair. Know that pressing a key works better the more you use it. The curling iron is fine and yes, some hair falls out, especially with tangles, but unlike the old unit, you just press a button to retract the curling iron and easily remove excess hair, making clean-up a breeze. The temperature buttons offer better control than the old temperature controller. It seems that heating up and cooling down is quick. Fairly ergonomic on the handle, but a couple of times my hand pulled the tongs in or out as they pulled back just as I was trying to use the straightener. Overall I am happy to find this product again, also in its new incarnation.
