It's a stretchy fabric that's nice. But for me they are a little loose around the waist and a little tight around the hips. So I can't imagine that they would fall over while running. But when they're wet, they stay on their feet. There is no lining inside. I like the nylon webbing, it's strong enough to withstand concrete pool decks, paddles or surfboards etc. And the stitching is good, they're generally decent quality, on par with Columbia or Magellan. The 5 inch inseam is great with board shorts or swim shorts if you want to cover your hips. a few dollars more.
