I love this product and recommend it because at the time of purchase it was the best product I could find on Revain. From what I understand, porcelain glaze stains the surface of the glaze, while stains in ceramic mugs penetrate the pores of the pottery. Porcelain's advantages also outweigh metal unless you use it for travel. Metals can permeate liquids, causing liquids to acquire a metallic taste. I have tea with this product at home and while there are stains that need to be removed immediately rather than left lying and are more difficult to remove, overall I think this is the best there is. Wash your teacup immediately after you've finished drinking, as tea that's on the bottom or left over is likely to get stained later. Stains can also appear on the sides and some are more difficult to remove. However, I have removed all visible stains, even the most stubborn stains that have stayed for a while. I used all the parts included in the kit but since I only use tea bags I stopped using the lid, base and strainer.
