Review on 🐠 Enhance Your Fish Tank with CNZ Aquarium Decor: Artificial Plastic Plant - 9-inch Green Ornament by Heather Joseph

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Pip is happy!

The first part of this review is about the plant I bought on January 7th 2018: At $5 it was a pretty good deal. I got this for my quail tank so I needed something with strong leaves they couldn't eat and stems that would allow them to stand upright without water and I couldn't find anything locally the right size without that it would drop by almost $20. Pros: Sturdy enough to stand upright out of the water, so suitable for reptile terrariums. No chemical smells. It just smells like plastic. Wash only with production residues. Mine was slightly sticky, but no more than any store-bought item that has been handled a lot. The base appears to be weighted evenly to the plant. Some I saw in the field had tiny bases compared to them. Cons: - Some of the leaves are warped, but if they're aiming for bubblegum-like realism, that might be fine. They weren't chewed. Many leaves are simply not fully formed. See picture. You may need to peel off a few threads of hot glue. Although the price is not that high. A stiff bristle brush is suitable for most cases. Remove the rest. Changes I made: - I filled the extra holes in the base with lots of hot glue as I often use mine for quail and bird droppings so I sealed them to make them easier to clean. Would I buy this again? Yes. Edit added September 27, 2018: I really liked the first plant I bought and wish I had bought the second one back then because it didn't stink. The second came with a strong smell of chemicals. I washed it 3 times with dish soap with warm shower water and it still stunk so it was out in full sun day and night for a couple of days. Only today the smell noticeably diminishes. The plan was to let it sit for about a week and hopefully everything will be fine after that. Two stars deducted because of the smell of the second one. The rest of the quality looks good. I didn't notice any deformed leaves compared to my first, but I would go with deformed leaves because of the stench. Ouch.
