Review on ASUS XG49VQ Curved Gaming Monitor with FreeSync: πŸ–₯️ 3840X1080P, 144Hz, Height Adjustment, Blue Light Filter and HDMI Support by Brian Turner

Great for movies, pretty good for gaming, good for work.

It took a lot of tweaking to get this monitor to stop the haloing/crowning/haloing or whatever you want to call it or the actual term for what I was experiencing. I had to disable freesync on my AMD card, which seems counterproductive, but that was the main issue I encountered. I would also suggest using Windows to get and set up the HDR Calibration app. Work wise I was struggling to set up different workspaces until I added PowerToys from Windows and it made a huge difference. I figured I could use PBP mode to split it into two different screens and then use Eyefinity to make it seamless, which works, but you can't use HDR and you can only use a 60Hz refresh rate for each partition to have. That being said, movies are amazing on this monitor with good blacks and vivid colors with HDR. The games also look pretty cool and with games that support 32:9 it's very immersive. For games that don't, I've found that it's easier to just change the screen resolution in Windows than messing around with GPU scaling. For work I found this amazing but I have seen other reviews saying otherwise so I think it really depends on what type of work you are doing and again PowerToys are a great help. I have gone from disappointment with this monitor to full satisfaction after spending a lot of time tweaking it and finding what works best for me.
