Luckily I had a good GFI switch in the outlet it was plugged into and it worked before the house or apartment was damaged. After completely disconnecting the core I connected a multimeter to the terminals and I have 14-16 ohms between the two blades and between the blade and the ground pin. Essentially a pure short film. Rewinding the cable shows the infinite resistance it should have, so that tells me there's something loose in either the cable or the connector heads. Not safe to use. Purchased the extension in December 2015 and used it successfully twice for a total of 4 days. The rest of the time it lay rolled up in a storage box in a motor home. Should have lasted much longer given the low usage. Should definitely be able to handle more than four unwind/rewind cycles. I am contacting Revain support to see if there is a guarantee. I'll report back if I have a positive result.
