I knew there wouldn't be much on a spool, seems to be the same weight as the small cotton spools I get at Joanns. I didn't do a fire test to see if the thread would burn or melt as mentioned by another reviewer but I really hope it's 100% cotton. I wanted to point out that the inside of the spool is not like normal thread spools, it is hollow inside the spool. The photo shows something in the middle of the spool which may or may not matter in use. Look at the photo in the scroll, one of their stock photos, the other is what I have. I've never used a coil like this, hopefully I won't have any trouble using it if I decide to keep it for myself.
