First, the WNDR37AV is the same device as the WNDR3700. Well, when it comes to routers, I did a lot of research and finally settled on this one. This device replaces the D-Link DIR-655 which I have owned for almost 3 years now. For the past 4 months or so, D-Link has been hanging and constantly having to restart. I figured the router might die so I bought another DIR-655 from Revain last week and sadly had to return it; He had more problems than I do now. I find that the DIR-655 can no longer handle my ever-growing home office network consisting of 6 computers (2 local and 4 wireless), 1 HP MediaSmart Server, 1 Sony LocationFree, 1 Netgear RangeMax, 2 iPhones, 1 iPod can. 1 Playstation3, 1 Wii, 3 switches, 3 network printers, 2 Linksys VOIP ATA, Linksys network cameras, etc. Setting up the WIDR37AV was fairly easy; I did not use the installation CD. It works simultaneously in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. You can transfer data for each band separately. Unfortunately, only one of my 4 laptops has a dual-band WiFi card (older Lenovo models); My new Sony VAIO and 3 HP only run at 2.4 GHz. You can set up a separate network for guests without giving them access to local files. Some people had issues with this router which were solved by disabling the traffic counter as well as disabling the USB port connected to the router. I don't use these features so I did the same. The range seems to be slightly better with the WNDR37AV. You have all the bells and whistles available (Qos, port forwarding, port triggering, etc.). I use OpenDNS servers as primary and secondary DNS. You can set up dynamic DNS, downside; You can only select DynDNS as the service provider. MAC address filtering (access list) is only available for wireless clients, not for LAN. Other than that, this router seems to be handling my network easily and without hiccups. Thumbs up!
