Review on 🌊 Simplicity 320DC Protein Skimmer: Enhancing Water Quality Effortlessly by Theresa Kirkland

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Noisy, wasteful, poor performance

Based on the reviews I decided to give this skimmer a try over the more expensive one as usual and I played around. I'm not sure how all these reviews claim this skimmer is quiet, it's without a doubt the loudest inanimate object in my house and it's covered in plywood. The pump is noisy, the muffler is TERRIBLE and whistles all the time, and it's not a constant sound, it's like a pulsating whistling, high note, low note, high note, low note, etc. The instructions require, that this DC pump runs at 100%. for fine-tuning, but I found it almost impossible to run it for more than a day or two before the blisters were well below my throat, or it created a boiling cauldron that doused the entire interior of my cabin. A problem I have never encountered in 10 years of working with reefs. Let me be clear, I've had e-shops, bubble mags, reef octopus and many others that were literally silent and it took me less than 5 minutes to set them up for a consistent dark roast. and I still can't get it after green tea. I've tried 7-11 inches of water and found 7.5-8 inches to be the "best" spot, but still terrible. As for the construction, it's well built, at least I have nothing to complain about the materials. In conclusion, if you're buying this to hide your spill noise, or you need an excuse to keep your TV volume above 50%, then this will definitely help. Spend another $150 and save yourself a headache.
