I use them in hallways and stairwells and the 4000K incandescent light makes the space appear larger. It changes mood for the better compared to the hot, warm, dim traditional lightbulbs. My 3 star rating for warmth is due to the fact that this is not a warm light but is a notch below harsh bluish 5000K daylight bulbs. I would not recommend 2700K (warm, candles) for hallway or stair lighting. For comparison, I have 4000K in my kitchen. It's not overly harsh, but it's also not too warm to be a nuisance in the workplace. A heat level of 2700 K (3000 K if you can find it) is good for a dining room chandelier. I hope this explanation from Kelvin is helpful in choosing the right range of warm to cool light for your living spaces. Oh, and 5000K fluorescent lighting should only be used in a garage or workplace. The living area is awfully hard and bluish, especially when the sun goes down.
