Not soft, prefer to buy one size larger.
They are not very soft! Something rigid or canvas-like. The trousers are normal, but the shirt is too small. My 30 year 30 lb age usually fits perfectly with 3 t pants and 4 t shirts are a little baggy. But this 4T goes perfectly with the pants, and the shirt will become a belly shirt in a few months!
