I rarely comment and was reluctant to spend $60 online for a dog bed. THEN WHAT. I have a 100lb Red/Shepherd/mixture. He basically looks like a big German shepherd. He's about 8 years old, he's beaten and tired. He used to only have a cheap soft bed. This is essentially when someone took a 6 inch memory foam mattress (not sure), cut it into 3 pieces and made 3 dog beds out of them. I don't know if the review listed the size I bought, but I believe it was XXL, the largest size I think is about 44" x 35". It takes up some space, but the next smaller size wouldn't cover the same, although it may have worked for him with dangling legs. With it, it can indeed stretch in the middle and have a small space on all sides. And he hits right in the middle and I think he can say that it stabilizes the weight distribution for his comfort. The cover is thin but nice with a soft top that probably won't feel great after too many washes. But that's about every 6 months. And then you could make your own cover when it wears out. The reason I say this is because the foam insert is great quality foam. Even if I step on him like a 300 lb man, he pops up right away. Keep in mind that there is no visible compression when it's on it - it's a solid 6 inches off the ground. But the bottom line is that when you walk into a room, you really need to go up and see if it's still breathing. He's just knocked out in a way I've never seen before. 5 stars for SOFTNESS / 5 stars for durability / 4 stars for easy cleaning just because I anticipate the cover won't last as many washes. But you can take it off and wash it 2 times a year and you'll get at least 2 years while still staying in great condition. Pretty solid investment. Anyone writing bad about this product is either a scammer or may have received an inferior version. Who knows, but that's the good we got.
