Do not wash in a top loading washing machine. This breaks down the foam. The cover can be washed, but when the foam gets wet, which easily comes off the sides, it's difficult to wash. It needs to be cleaned or it will fall apart.

This mattress is very durable and comfortable. My small senior dog loves to sleep on it. The cover can be easily opened and machine washed and tumble dried on a low heat. I bought one for my new puppy and would like to get a large size for my sister dog. He chews on his mattresses, but I think the strong memory foam will make them harder to destroy. We will see. Love it.
