We ordered this item at the last minute for a trip to the beach. The house we stayed in has the main living room and bedrooms upstairs, so we needed something that would block the stairs without damaging the walls or leaving a mark. Those goals were perfect. He solved this problem and many others. When folded (and in a suitcase) it is so compact that it practically does not take up space in the trunk of our car. Since it is a lattice fence and not a trellis fence, our little one couldn't climb over it either. A win! These gates have become our gates. It stays folded in the cupboard but is so easy to pull out and open when I need to lock the kitchen. I'm so glad we bought this gate! I mean, the first time my baby tried the gate, I heard a rumble and was nervous that she was going to knock him over. Not the case at all. The pressure elements were pressed firmly against the wall. The noise came from the grille, which has little room to move back and forth. The movement of the net (and the aggressiveness of our little one) didn't move the goal a single bite. This is definitely something I will recommend to all my friends!
