Review on DNM DV22AR Mountain Bike Shock by Jaleel Kadlecik

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great replacement for a 2011 DB Recoil damper

I received the damper a few days ago and installed it the same day. As previously mentioned the width of the bushings had to be reduced by about 2mm as the brackets are too narrow so you will need to use your original bushings as spacers (washers will probably work too). I used my bench sander to remove some material from each side, front and back. After installation, I adjusted the preload until the spring stopped moving. When I jumped on the bike I could only get about 8mm of sag (about 15%). My road weight is about 195 with a full/loaded CamelBak. I found the spring too hard. Today I finally got out on the track to ride. After playing with the rebound adjuster this thing is smooth! I ended up getting 5 clicks out of SLOW (the shock has 16 clicks total). The trail covered every terrain, from gravel to grass, mud to roots and rocks - the bump smoothed them all out (as far as it went). If a $50 shock is like that, you shouldn't feel a thing when you're on a $300 shock! This was the first ride where my butt and crotch didn't feel hurt since I started riding again! I also use the BikeRoo seat. I will update information on shock absorber performance and durability regularly.
