Review on 💡 CPS CSRU1 Compressor Saver - Energy-efficient Add-On for 1-3 Ton Units by Corby Muin

Factory Installed Part

I bought a 2.5 ton Goodman central air conditioner 2 months ago. It worked great for a few days when the weather got hot, but one day it suddenly wouldn't start and made a very loud hum. After crashing several times due to overload when trying to launch, it finally went back to normal on its own. I spoke to an HVAC specialist and he said that this problem can occur because most new condensing units no longer come with a starting capacitor to make them cheaper. They rely on a run capacitor and large inrush current to start. He recommended installing this kit to give the supercharger an extra starting boost. Being an electrician, the installation was easy for me. On the capacitor panel, red and black go to the load side of the contactor (towards the compressor) and yellow to the "sealant" terminal of the existing running capacitor. All the terminals were there to pull in new wires, making the installation even quicker. The capacitor schematic even shows this starting capacitor/relay as an optional item. After installing this kit I had no more problems starting the compressor. Also, I no longer see my headlights flashing when the AC is on.
