This is very useful for reading papers at work while I use the computer. My previous reading glasses only accounted for computer distance, but I didn't have the clarity I prefer for closer reading. I'll add that I'm short-sighted - I can read without glasses - but I wear contacts for general vision when I'm out, driving, etc. My prescription is "widened" to achieve this, so I actually need reading glasses when I wear contact lenses (about 12-14 hours a day). These readers are just great - I do my job without realizing that I have to change anything. I bought the strength I prefer to use with contact lenses when reading.
