I was looking for a switcher that would switch multiple 1/8" stereo inputs to a single 1/8" stereo output so I could connect multiple devices to the SoundBlaster card's line-in can. in my calculator. Most devices I've seen can only switch two sources. That wasn't enough for me. This 4x1 was perfect for me. It is very simply constructed from a single circuit board containing five 1/8 inch stereo connectors on one side and one connector on the opposite side. There are four buttons for switching inputs, as well as a button for muting (opening the circuit). Circuit boards above and below the one with guts to protect it and give it some strength. It's small - the size of a credit card, which is both good and bad. Well, because it's small and can be placed almost anywhere. Bad, because if you have several cables connected, the weight of the cables drags the thing along. Since it's new I can't say how noisy (electrically) the switch will or will be. On the other hand, I don't plan on actively switching sources, so this might not be an issue.
