Pleasantly surprised!

We have two 3 year old cats (8 and 9 pounds) and we have just adopted a 4 month old kitten. Well, I liked this cat tree because of its relatively compact configuration and 3 fairly high perches (1 for each cat :) ). 2 caves and multiple levels were a bonus. I was nervous about the size as several reviewers commented on how small the dens and perches are but my two adult females are quite small so it was worth the risk. Got the tree today and set it up. It was easy to set up, I did it myself and it took maybe 20 minutes. Everything is clean and tightly screwed and the device makes a solid impression. Cats climbed on it even when I installed it. Size: The good news is that the size is perfect for our cats. The perches and dens are big enough for my adult girls (who are admittedly petite). One took the highest spot and the other settled in the smaller/tallest of the two caves. You have free space. The kitten loved the toy attached to it and fell asleep on the nearest perch. However, this kitten appears to be growing into quite a large cat (at 4 months she is almost as big as my adult cats). It will be interesting to see if this tree ends up being too small for them - I'll try to remember to post an update in a few months when we find out if this will be an issue. Toys: Maybe they changed the toys? This is a fluffy little mouse that rattles with a 6 inch rubber cord. The mouse is similar in quality to some cat toys that we have at home. The cord seems to be more firmly attached than I've had on other devices - at least the toy is still there - my cats usually rip off attached toys within the first 10 minutes. ---> Update: The toy fell off after 2 Β½ weeks. One of the cats chewed through the string. However, the cord is attached very tightly and we were able to tie another toy to a shorter cord. :) Perches: Note that the perches are attached with a screw in the middle, so you can point them in any direction. I positioned the top bar to be square with the base (rather than diagonal as shown in the picture) to allow the unit to be placed flush with the wall/window.
