Review on ZOSI Security Surveillance Weatherproof Distance by Jeffrey Sanders

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Winner (with one caveat)

Short Story: OutstandingLong Story Background: I started with a Zmodo 8 Channel DVR Kit. The picture quality is good, but there is nothing to compare. I later upgraded the DVR section to a 16 channel DVR but with the original 8 cameras I knew I would expand the system in the future. image So I bought Anran DVR and wow what a wonderful improvement! It was like going from VHS to DVD all over again! Even though the original cameras looked better, I was still dissatisfied. I started buying new cameras as upgrades with some pretty good improvements. But when I finally tried these Zosi 800TVL 960H cameras, I was amazed by the image quality. Colors were accurately saturated, contrast was good, and resolution seemed to match the Anran DVR very well. There's also no mosquito noise in the system in low light, which I'm definitely seeing on my rest of the Zmodo cameras. Since my first Zosi camera I have bought 3 more cameras and plan to buy 5 more to complete the upgrades and expand the system as much as I want. To be clear, I bought one of these white domes, a black dome, and a black barrel chamber. Each seems to have the same sensors, just different form factors and IR placement. They are so good that I could even replace some of my previously upgraded cameras. for $30 or more (including the 3 I bought before one of the Zosi cameras), but they're amazingly good. Much better than my $30-$45 cameras. UPDATE: This camera has a downside. If you tilt the camera ball too close to 90° (90° means you are looking "straight ahead" and not "straight down", 0°), the IR LEDs will bounce back into the camera's sensor from the inside of the camera shield, creating bright halos that completely drown out the image at night. I don't know if that's the case with all domes, so I can't rate this one. I just wanted everyone to be aware of this limitation depending on how they want to adjust the viewing angle. I'm just going to use this camera in a different spot that's facing down instead of out and use the running cam where I want it to be "facing out". I suppose as an improvement Zosi could cover the inside of the shield with an IR absorbing material instead of an IR reflecting material, but then the cost probably wouldn't have been that impressive at the time. Although, I probably could have handled it easily. Maybe I'll try it out and get back to you with another update.
