Review on πŸ”’ Stainless Steel Toolbox RV Handle Latch – Paddle Lock for Trailer Door, RV Camper, Truck Bed Toolboxes – 3/8'' x 3-1/4'' by John Hickey

Good paddle locks. However, the kit does not include connectors for UWS rods!

I purchased these stainless steel tool box handle latches for my tool box from Kobalt (Lowes). The original latches came loose and no longer closed securely when the toolbox lid was closed. I noticed that the original clasps didn't have seals either, but they do! They fit perfectly into the old latch cutouts and were easy to assemble. I've had to drill rivets into old locks, remove the connecting rod from the thrust connectors and the entire lock is easy to remove. Fit the new locks with the gaskets provided and rivet the 4 corners of each lock (you could probably use a small bolt/lockwasher/nut but rivets are much easier!) The only problem was the old locks had rod connectors on each lock could not be easily removed or reused. These new latches come without rod connectors but have holes for rod connectors. So if your old latch locks have rod connectors (where both locks can be opened simultaneously by pulling the lock handle) that you do not want to remove, you should order a "UWS rod connector" for each lock before installing. The UWS rod connectors I ordered fit these spade fasteners perfectly. Each paddle lock is locked with the same key. I am very happy with the new paddle locks as they are much better than the original ones. Easy assembly, but carefully drilling out the old rivets (do not enlarge the rivet hole with a drill that is too large) and inserting the new lock and rivets takes some time. Don't forget to order the rod connectors separately (around $12-15 each). Satisfied except that the rod connectors are not included in the kit!
