Review on Black Canon CanoScan LiDE400 Document Scanner for Improved SEO by Eunu ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like everything, the price and the quality are both ok.

Bought for remote work and exclusively for working with documents, so photo scanning is not taken into account in the assessment. Honestly, I didn’t scan the pictures, I don’t know. That is, the scope in my case is narrow. By scanning documents. - speed is VERY helpful, it is this quality that I need most of all at work. - generally scans well, good quality from 1 pass. - has already paid for itself. ViewScan detected the scanner easily, I use it mainly out of habit. No problem. I tried the proprietary utility, I liked it less, maybe because of the less familiar interface. Subjectively. The disadvantages are not critical for my work, but nevertheless: - at times I see on the scans light "darkening" along the upper edge, with this edge the paper enters the printer and comes out slightly bent. A light cover does not press the document to the end, a "shadow" is formed. It doesn’t matter for the docks, so I’m not worried, I set the white balance, imperceptibly. But at the same time, a light cover is good if you have to change many documents in a row by hand. - the seal attached to the lid from below sags in the middle. I'm not sure if that's the intention, it's more a matter of build quality. But, again, it does not interfere, maybe even better presses down the middle of the document. - the lamp is powerful, it breaks through office paper, in the case of scanning double-sided documents, the turnover is noticeable. The same is observed on dense, semi-cardboard forms with very contrast printing. It's not critical for my work. - the device is quite easily soiled (dust), design, cracks - make you want to regularly wipe it from dust, this is inevitable. - the edges that fix the paper in the corner of the glass are quite beveled, ordinary office paper sometimes strives to rise higher and move. But more often than not, everything goes well, you get used to it. And generally good. For the money, there is no alternative. I honestly looked for it and couldn't find it. It is a good choice for documents. For pictures I will look for a good expensive CCD.

Pros
  • Speed, simplicity, ease of operation
Cons
  • Top cover, double-sided document scanning (subjectively, in places), easily soiled
