I needed a USB charger for my GPS so I could use it with my phone or iPod using the charging port in my car. I didn't need a car plug adapter so I can't comment on how well it works, but the cable is what I needed. It's the perfect length from the charger to the GPS on the dash, and I've had no issues that I can recall charging from the 1A or 2.1A ports. I don't think I've tried it for data transfer. I think the GPS had a cable for this, but was it too short for the car? I know there was a reason I needed it, in addition to the fact that the GPS was included.
