I bought a newer iPad and decided to give my old iPad 2 to my 7 year old daughter. However, knowing my daughter, I knew the iPad needed some protection. This product is excellent in my opinion! The soft rubber edges provide more than enough cushioning when the iPad slides off the couch onto the floor (yes, it happened in my house). There is no direct screen protection. However, the rubber edge prevents direct contact with the screen if the iPad falls on a flat surface. The molded handles are durable and show no signs of cracking after a few months of use. And the rear fold out stand allows my daughter to support her iPad on the table for watching videos. This case not only offers excellent protection, but also provides easy access to all buttons on the side and top of the iPad. In addition, the camera, loudspeaker and microphone are freely accessible. If your iPad is going to be used by a not-so-gentle teenager, this is a great product.
