Low quality but functional optics - buy these if you intend not to use them often or for long.

High quality optics are always expensive (think camera lenses). This is not an expensive glass. It does its job very easily and with some compromises, but it will serve your purposes if they are as simple as mine. I have no experience with jewelry loops, so I can't offer anyone a comparison. Here are the simple facts about using this product: It really does increase, I would say significantly. I can't tell you whether he's doing it to the extent he claims he is. However, you need to be aware that the image is significantly distorted everywhere except at the dead center of a lens. If you want a broader view, you can look a little further. However, if, like me, you're content to focus on the little things, you'll likely find that it gets the job done that you need. I've had some success using this loop to adjust the nibs of my fountain pen. If you get it on your phone's camera, the phones can also do macro photography (which is an added bonus, I suppose). It appears to be a fairly solid product, well made enough not to fall apart with normal use. I'm sure I could pay more for better optics, but if you just need something cheap that you can use on rare occasions for casual work that requires good magnification, then this is fine. I've found that I experience slight eyestrain after prolonged use (e.g. more than 15 or 20 minutes), but I haven't had this experience with faster, more frequent types of use (e.g. 5 minutes or less). ) did.

Pros
  • Jewelry making tools and supplies
Cons
  • Big and bulky
