Review on SITERWELL 10 Year Photoelectric Battery GS526A by Daryl Barton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Value - if you don't need to patch holes

This tiny smoke alarm costs about 4 times more than a regular smoke alarm. And it doesn't fill the same space on your ceiling as a regular one, which can cause color or finish issues. But the fact that you're saving on batteries for over 10 years makes it real value. You can buy universal smoke alarms almost anywhere for a lot less. But if you replace the batteries every six months - or even if you let them fully discharge before replacing them (you know. When it starts beeping) - this fire alarm will pay for itself in a few years with its 10-year battery. once. It's unobtrusive enough -- no flashing lights or garish "funny" colors to draw attention to a wart on the wall (a wart on the ceiling just doesn't sound right). It blends seamlessly into the background and is less intrusive as it is half the size of a standard fire detector. Unless you're using it to replace an existing one. Then the old bracket will not fit. And the color of the paint underneath does not match. And the holes on the new bracket don't line up with the old ones. Much can be said about standardization. But bypassing all of that (or putting it in a different location entirely) saves you a lot of money on batteries. Enough to buy paint and a brush. Or some kind of plaster for drywall. Or both.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
