Separating solar panel from lights provides good flexibility to adjust light directions, and yet capture maximum solar charging. Frosted lenses on lights provides a soft subtle effect, so do not expect bright illumination. Setting for repeated cycling through the range of colors provides an interesting effect. It would have been even more versatile if a white color setting was also provided; but that "color” is omitted. Hopefully these lights will remain water- tight, and the solar panel will maintain its full charging capacity over time…but that remains to be seen. If it lasts 3 years or more then it will be a very good value. (There is no motion detection on these lights….they go on after sunset, and stay on for the duration of the charge….which has been about 4 or 5 hours with partly cloudy conditions for the several days I have had these lights in operation)
