My niece is 8 years old and a bit tall for her age. Her waist is about 27 inches and she has a booty on them and they fit perfectly. They are really warm and actually a bit long (she hasn't outgrown it at last!) The gray is nice and dark. I didn't go black for fear it would look faded. The gray is a real gray, not a melange.
