As more vehicles come equipped with run-flat tires (tires with inner tires that don't deflate when the outer tire is flat), and most gas stations are coin-operated-only air pumps, portable An air pump in a car is almost essential. And most people don't have an air compressor in their garage. I used to have a big compressor in my garage, but it failed after 40 years. So I'm looking for a portable air compressor that can be used both on the go (battery operated) and in the garage via an extension cord. This compressor does just that. GOOD FEATURES: - it's not too heavy - it gets the job done fast enough. Inflated 6 pounds in less than two minutes and 20 pounds in four minutes. - The gauge is relatively accurate, at least within half a pound depending on which air gauge you are measuring. - The air hose is long enough to reach the air valve. anywhere on the 20-inch tire. - has a light, although its use is limited unless the user is holding it. - Comes with a large storage bag for the owner to carry additional extensions. - it turns off automatically when the tire reaches this desired pressure - instructions are easy to understand ITS LIMITATIONS - the storage is poorly designed. It is located at the bottom of the pump. It includes an air hose attached at the bottom. A 12V cigarette lighter cable is also included. The user must first unplug the 12v cable before the air hose can be removed, but as the 12v cable is connected to the pump it gets in the way as it cannot be put to one side when not in use. The air hose then needs to be removed, however as it is attached to the bottom storage tray this makes it difficult to use and shortens the length. Also, when trying to retrieve the 12v hose and cord, it's very difficult to put them back in the storage compartment. While the 10ft 12V cord is long enough to reach from the cigarette lighter to the tire on most vehicles. Cars, minivans are too short to reach the rear wheels. (Not on mine because it has a 12V plug on the tailgate.) - The air hose, like most other portable air compressors, uses a threaded fitting to connect to the tire valve. However, it is difficult to connect. I spent more time unscrewing the tube than it took the pump to inflate a tire and I couldn't screw it onto a tire, although the metal valve cap was easy to unscrew. Offer customers to buy a latch on the extension cord. CAN BE IMPROVED. - have a separate air hose and a threaded or better still a snap connection at the top of the compressor. - Plug the 12V wire in the same way as the 110V wire and do not connect it to the compressor. It's easier to store and retrieve when not needed.
