This is my third turban towel. I used up the other two in a few years. This is an elastic loop that stretches over time. I'm not sure a mechanical clasp would be that comfortable to wear - I even sleep on it! I love this hair towel. It really shortens the time it takes me to use the hair dryer. I have very thick hair and this works great! I just roll it up (jelly roll style for you bakers), tuck it in and after a shower I go about my work. It works great even when I had very long hair (shoulder length).
