I have used this to smooth out some wood beams with uneven wood texture from decades of wear. I wasn't trying to gouge out a knot or anything, I just applied a smooth coat horizontally to the board. shot in 2 minutes. Ace Hardware plastic spatulas, which are actually called "disposables", have lasted me for years and have never broken.
