Review on K. T. Manufacturing Mysterious Kuddle Kup Charcoal Cat Bed by Angie Zhang

Revainrating 4 out of 5

She finally tried it and seems to like it!

Two weeks ago we bought this cat bed for our newly adopted cat. My fault the first time she tried to explore she was in a wobbly seat so she staggered and she jumped out and didn't look back. But tonight — after sitting next to her prickly box on our landing for the last two weeks (Scratch Lounge, awesome!) — she climbed in and settled into a cozy fold. Our cat is medium sized but weighs 20lbs (we are working on this - she has settled in!). The other reviews are correct - it's not a stable thing - it reclines when resting on the edges so it needs to be in a spot where it doesn't roll and/or have some support. Think of it more like a bag than a bed. In any case, the clumsy kitten is quite comfortably crammed into all 20 kilos and seems quite comfortable and content. The texture is really counterintuitive - it feels a bit scratchy for a human, but it's nice and thick and the cat seems to really dig into it, which is why I'm sold out. In addition to the reasonable price and neutral color, we also liked that it's made in the USA, packaged in recycled materials, and the packaging was minimal (no plastic or foam - just a cardboard sleeve). The price is low enough that we didn't mind giving her a test drive and thought if she ended up not using it we might donate it to a local cat shelter. However, it looks like it's staying that way, so we need to give them something else instead! Follow-up: After climbing into bed the first two times she gave up - now that we've had her longer we've noticed that she likes it snug but also spread out (legs apart etc.). Stability was also an issue. However, she likes the material the bed is made of. I stitched all the seams, halved the side piece lengthwise and sewed it together, and also lined the inside of the wicker basket with it. In fact, she slept on the round bottom the whole time I worked on the side piece, and as soon as I put the bottom piece in the basket, she immediately went in and has stayed in it ever since. A simple change and again this fabric, she likes it very, very much.
