It would be nice if the gold color remained. Remember that gold is not electroplated. It's just a thin layer of paint that wears off quickly. If you plan to make jewelry necklaces out of it, it will fade after wearing a few times. I wanted a gold chain for some of the ID tokens I have, but the tarnished chain looks really bad. This can work to make ceiling fan pull chains since the chain is not pressed against the body.
