Hello Splinter. Get ready to be dominated! This instrument sees fragments and laughs (inaudible of course, this is an inanimate object). My roommate had a splinter deep in his leg. I was able (thanks to a bright light and a magnifying glass) to be as non-invasive as possible and see clearly. Also, the tweezers are very sharp and hold well, allowing me to easily pull out the splinter. They have a nice little hard plastic lid that fits over the sharp end of the tweezers for storage. I take great pride in my advanced first aid kit (more of an ALS first aid kit) and only keep what works and works well. It's a very handy shard tool and I'm sure its cross-functionality in areas other than first aid would be great as well. Highly recommended.
