Review on ⏰ Enhanced Magnasonic USB Charging Alarm Clock Radio with Time Projection, Battery Backup, Auto Time Set, Dual Alarm, 1.2" LED Display for Smartphones & Tablets (EAAC475) by Seth Gibbons

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Here are some great features:

Electrohome USB Charging with Radio Alarm Clock (EAAC475 Speakers section below). It has exceptional features that allow you to customize everything from the brightness of the display to choosing a specific radio station to play with the alarm. Here are some interesting features: The projector displays either the time or the temperature. You can rotate it, turn it on and off, and adjust the focus. The alarm clock is pretty fancy: you can set it to manual, another alarm just for the weekend, just a specific day, etc. The alarm also lets you choose a buzzer or a radio station. For example, you can tune the radio to 550 AM, but you can select an FM music station when you set an alarm. You can also adjust the volume of the clock radio when you turn it on. For us seniors, this can be a bit frustrating at first. Almost every button has at least 2 functions that require either a quick press, a button press and hold, or pressing another button to toggle between options. It has 3 cords - a power cord, very thin, 3 feet. a cable for the AM antenna and a 1 foot cable with a plastic tip that is a temperature sensor. There is a small switch next to the USB port. Apparently this connector can work with almost any device - if it's not a charger then slide the switch from A to B or vice versa. Narrator: I hate to say it, but the narrator is terrible. Basically, it's a step up from a cell phone speaker. It sounds like it's coming out of a tin can and if you go past half the volume it gets distorted due to the tinny sound. This has replaced the old Sony clock radio and the sound quality is day and night Sony sound blows Electrohome. Since I use the radio a lot, I'm not sure if I can live with this bad sound. I love this unit so much I'm tempted to open it up and see if I can put a bigger speaker in it. They seem to have more than enough room for a larger one. UPDATE: Well I went ahead and opened up the radio. When I saw this tiny speaker I just had to replace it (see picture). I had to cut some plastic to fit. Holy cow. what made it different The volume goes from 1-15. Sound now fills the bedroom at 12 or 1 p.m. Why not design it with a big round or even oval speaker?

Pros
  • There's Something in It
Cons
  • Clarity
