Some basic facts about me: Male, 45 years old. Out of shape and overweight. I'm 5ft 3in, 255lbs / 115kg, big belly, thighs and calves. Location: Orange County, California. Current morning temperature: 45-55 Fahrenheit. The product purchased is 3/4 length, 2XL. Full disclosure, I'm not a runner. I recently decided that I need to start moving a little more. I got a bit chilly in the mornings when I usually walk or slouch (more than a walk, but far from a 'run') and wanted something to help keep me warm. I wore sweatpants but found them too long and sweaty. I've never worn anything with "compression". Most fat people avoid compression. So I wasn't sure what to expect. I put them on for the first time today, February 22nd, 2021. The temperature on my phone was 50 degrees Fahrenheit. They were certainly snug fitting, which I'm not used to, but it seems like they need to match. I was glad they fit snugly on my thighs and calves. The compression wasn't too strong and the feel was smooth and comfortable. At 5ft 3in the 3/4 length fit my ankles perfectly which made me very happy. We guys don't have mesh linings so I opted for boxers under my leggings and they still fit well. Over my leggings I wear shorts that reach about mid-thigh. There was still enough room around the stomach to stretch a bit, although not much, but it made for a comfortable fit. The belt didn't turn over on me or dig into my sides or stomach. Overall just super comfortable with freedom of movement. In terms of heat, the outside temperature was bearable for me with leggings on. I could still feel the fresh morning air, but much better than just shorts and less heavy and sweaty than sweatpants. Again, I can only speculate as I've never worn anything like this, but I don't think you want to be too "warm". During exercise, your body will warm up and sweat, so there's no need to want something too warm. In addition, I put on a cotton shirt and sweatshirt. I returned home with good sweat on my head and upper body, but found that The leggings were not sweaty at all. It was way better than sweatpants. They are designed to absorb sweat and it worked for me as advertised. Please note again that I am not a runner. Today is day two of my determination to shuffle a little more than walk, I ran about 2.5 miles. If you are very athletic and run 5k, 10k or a marathon I can't tell how this will work for you. For middle-aged men who decide to get off the couch and need more cover to protect themselves from the fresh, cool air, this could be the perfect option. Another note, heat is such an objective perspective. I think for 45-55 degree Fahrenheit weather they are perfect for me. If I were in colder weather I'd probably like something more thoughtful. Overall I'm super happy and will probably buy a few more pairs.
