I've owned almost every major gaming headset at some point. The headset will be a wireless Astro A50. I had Astro A50 in both 3rd and 4th generation. The ONLY thing better than this headset is the comfort. I wear glasses and the Steel Series Pro ear cushions put a lot of pressure on my glasses and after a few hours of wearing the headset it starts to hurt. I didn't have this problem with the Astro because of the headband design. Razor, Logitech and Turtle Beach can't compete with what the Astro and Steel series have to offer, I had them all too. The Steel Series Pro is a much better looking headset, it's not overly gaming. I like the microphone, it has decent sound quality for both gaming and voice calls. I'm a network security consultant and I'm in meetings most of the day. From time to time I use this headset for work. The Steel Series mixer amp outperforms the Astro in almost every way. Battery life was reduced by only 5 seconds needed to replace the battery. Software I think this is cheating, maybe I would give Astro the benefit just because they have a console app. You can use Astro software on Xbox without connecting the base station to a PC to make updates and change EQ profiles. That's cool. The Steel Series Pro does sound better though, and once you've loaded your favorite EQ settings you can toggle between them and probably don't need to change them, and if you're so inclined you can edit your own EQ on the receiver. can't find it's steel series pro wireless vs arctis 9x which brings us to another point for astro headset, it natively works with xbox, steel series pro wireless doesn't. There are workarounds to get the mic working with the Xbox, but it's not plug and play like the Astro a50 or even the Arctis 9x. Arctis 9x vs Wireless Pro if you are buying just to play on Xbox I would buy 9x because the mic works wirelessly like a headset and sounds just like a wireless headset. Technically, the Wireless Pro has an audio advantage, but if you're playing Xbox games you won't hear that subtle difference. The wireless pro is really good on pc, i use mine for both pc and xbox but if i wasn't using them for pc gaming i would keep the 9x. As mentioned above, the Astro A50 not only works natively on Xbox, it also comes with a full Xbox software/app. At the end of the day I would highly recommend the Steel Series Pro Wireless. I purchased this set refurbished and it arrived as described and works perfectly. I've seen some bad reviews saying don't buy refurbished, I attribute it to a bad third party seller. I cannot blame Revain for a third party not getting the job done. You can save over $100 by buying a refurbished one and my big plus if it came in poor quality is your purchase covered by Revain Buyer Protection so you can just send it back and buy from a more responsible seller . If you're buying new, I think the Steel Series Pro Wireless costs $30 more than the Astro A50 Wireless. $299 vs. $329
