(I would give this item five stars except for the fact that the item being replaced was the same model from the same manufacturer and has been out of service since May 4th 2018). years) I have never had a ballast failure. After our kitchen light would not turn on, the light switch, lightbulbs, and wiring were checked and found to be working. There was nothing left that could be the culprit. I was expecting new ballast to be hard to find and expensive so I just bought a new light and installed it. When a friend suggested I search Amazon for the model number printed on the ballast, I did just that. This ballast was 1/6 the cost of a new light, so I ordered it, installed it, and tested the light. The ballast was actually the culprit and I now have a spare work light. TIP: Since I already had the new bracket installed, I had to install the new ballast without attaching the bracket to the ceiling. Based on this experience I would suggest removing the fixture to install new ballast as it would be difficult to still install the fixture on the ceiling.
