I have bought this item several times only to return it due to defects or poor design. I gave it a few chances because I got along fine with the 16GB version. These recordings are in MP3 format. You do not have the option to set the date/time. I would charge them fully and they would die if I didn't charge them every day even if I didn't record anything. Caps keep falling off. The build quality was poor and the units could easily break. Recordings longer than an hour are automatically split into separate files. As many reviewers pointed out, the recordings were unusable on many systems. I found a way around this using online converters, but it was a pain. I just bought another brand. It was a bit more expensive but it was worth it. However, the sound quality was not as good as theirs.
