The case would be good if it was much stronger. You can see it in my photo if you pry the side of the case apart. Pay no attention to my colored finger. Lol The built in kickstand is pretty good. The matte back is also good. It is a pity that this is a very tricky matter. I don't have an Apple Pencil, but I feel like even with one, you can't just grab the sides to hold it. I just wanted a case with no lid, but that's not the best option.
