I'm not a hardcore gamer so I don't know much about how gaming headsets usually work. All I needed was a pair of inexpensive headphones with a good mic, and Sennheiser is a reputable brand. I have high end headphones that I use for critical listening (Beyerdynamic DT from the 1990s) so I *really really* don't care about their sound quality, I just needed a good mic. So take this review with a grain of salt if you're looking for an in-depth sound quality review. I have a big head and the clamping force on most Sennheiser headphones is pretty tight, these were no exception (YMMV). I've only put them on my computer for a day which has opened them up a bit, but I still can't wear them for more than an hour at a time without getting tired/adjusting. It's probably just a quirk of my setup, but I've had a hard time getting it to work on my computer. I have a special sound card (ASUS STX II) with crappy drivers/software so it took me a while to figure out how to get it working with WoW (the only game I play). The ASUS STX software is some serious shit. I hate this. But after configuring it everything worked fine. PROTIP (AND THIS IS REALLY VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT WILL AVOID YOUR HEART PAIN): There is a volume control on the side. So if your volume is consistently low and you can't figure out why, CHECK THIS WHEEL. I spent ****HOUR**** fixing a 'problem' that wasn't a problem at all. I really wish it was just a USB connection to get around all that crap, but I can see why they still have analog connections. . What I really like is that you can turn off the mic by moving it to the up position. Relax. Otherwise you can't adjust the microphone, but you don't really need it if you set the gain correctly. Everyone on my discord server said they could hear me fine through the mic. No complaints about my normally soft conversational voice were well heard. The STX II software allowed me to increase the gain as needed. All online reviewers say this mic is one of the best in this price range. I can't talk about it, but I have no problem with it. If you're looking for audiophile quality headphones instead of a $100 *gaming* headset, you'll be disappointed. But if you moderate your expectations a little, or if these are your first $100 headphones, you'll probably be happy with the sound. This is a Sennheiser with the typical Sennheiser sound. But people who really care about sound quality understand that this product is not designed for audiophile quality. For around $100 for light/moderate use I find them quite acceptable. If I've played a lot, I might have problems with comfort. YMMV. You are acceptable.
