The fan itself has a long enough wire to reach the motherboard from its hot-end position. I used this fan to replace the stock fan on my Ender 3. Plugs into the same port and works fine. it's about as loud as the old fan but whines less. I received 2 fans in the box which were significantly louder than the other 2 suggesting that quality control is a bit lacking. I was lucky enough to have a replacement fan that wasn't noisy and sounded damaged. Overall, you should be careful when purchasing this product. You'll be lucky if all 4 fans work as expected. Otherwise, look elsewhere if good quality bothers you.
